When buying or selling a house, few people consider their garage door as an important feature, despite the fact that the garage can be one of the most prominent exterior features of a house. Having a garage door that fits in with the style of your home can raise curb appeal and the sales price if you ever want to sell.
Even if you don’t want to sell, it’s important to keep up with the maintenance of your garage door and related mechanisms. Most people use their garages at least twice daily, making it one of the hardest working appliances in the home. Proper maintenance and repairs ensure that your garage door system works well for years to come.
When it comes to garage door service, there are many companies out there, and it can be hard to know which one to choose. When looking for any contractor, the general rule is to look for one that is state-certified and licensed and is also bonded and insured. This is a good indication that the contractor takes their job seriously.
The second thing you should do when choosing a garage door service contractor is look for reviews from past clients. These reviews can give you a good overall indication of whether the contractor is reliable, affordable, and does the job properly. Take the time to read reviews on multiples sites to see what the review trend is for any contractor.

Garage doors are some of the hardest working facilities in a household and require maintenance on a constant basis to ensure that they operate optimally. By following a maintenance schedule, you can increase the lifespan of your garage door as well as ensure that it won’t fail at the worst time possible.
The first step in any maintenance plan is to observe the garage door in motion. If you notice any scraping noises, or that the door is moving jerkily instead of smoothly, you should investigate the potential causes before the problem worsens.
Regular lubrication of the moving parts of the garage door system should prevent any scraping that will damage the system. Lubrication helps keep parts in good condition for longer and extends the lifespan of the garage door. Use a silicone-based lubricant and use it sparingly, over-lubrication is unnecessary and can lead to unsightly drips and seeping.
The rollers are an essential part of the garage door system and, depending on the type, need replacing every five to six years. By examining the rollers every year, you can check the condition and halt any problems in their tracks. If you see that the rollers are worn and cracked, it’s time to replace them. Our contractors are always on call to provide advice and assistance on the replacement process.
Sensors are the components of the garage system that tell the system if there is an obstacle in the way that should prevent the door from closing. The easiest (and safest) way to test whether a sensor is functional is to start closing the garage door and waving your hand in front of the sensor. If the sensor works, it should stop the door from closing and pull it back into the open position. If it doesn’t, it’s time to look at repairing or replacing the sensor.
If you’re not a very handy person and don’t want to be bothered with the maintenance of your garage door, give us a call. We can schedule yearly maintenance and service sessions to ensure that your system is well-maintained and working optimally. This allows us to detect problems early and solve them before they become issues that need urgent attention. Maintenance is always cheaper than repairs, and replacing a single component can save you hundreds of dollars in the long run.
We’re all used to traditional cement floors in garages, but these are boring and ugly. Many residential properties are looking at epoxy floor coatings for garage floors instead.
Epoxy is a durable resin that can be dyed any color you want, giving your boring garage a new lease on life. When the epoxy is fully cured, it forms very strong polymer bonds that make epoxy a strong and durable material. Unlike paint, it can be applied in a thick layer that is more resistant to wear and tear and will bond directly to the cement layer beneath it.
Due to its strong polymer bonds, epoxy is highly chemical and stain resistant, making it the perfect surface for any hobbyist who works in the garage. You don’t have to worry about spills or damaging the floor with jack stands or toolboxes–even a dropped wrench won’t make a dent. It’s also moisture resistant, so cleaning up after a spill is as easy as grabbing a mop and a bucket of water.
If you decide on an epoxy floor covering, we have the experience necessary to install it correctly. Preparing the concrete floor for an epoxy coating is essential for getting a high-quality end product. If done poorly, the epoxy won’t stick well to the floor and start flaking off. We will also ensure that we use high-quality epoxy resin to prevent any issues with hot tires that may cause the lower quality resin to peel off. With our garage services, you can rest assured that you’ll get a durable and good-looking epoxy floor that will last for years.
Garages are becoming much more than simply spaces where you park your car. If you’re a hobbyist, the garage can be an excellent place to work. Often the only issue with this solution is a lack of storage space.
To keep all your stuff in order, we recommend installing storage racks. Our experts can advise you on the types of racks we can install and ensure that the installation is done quickly and well. We can design storage racks to fit any garage size or shape.
Garage doors can seriously impact the value of a property since they take up so much of the front view of a house. If you’ve got an old, worn-looking garage door, chances are that it’s affecting the curb appeal of your property and can actually decrease the value of your house if you choose to sell.
There are so many good options available for garage doors that the expense of replacing your old one can significantly increase the value of your house. While we offer custom doors, there are also many good off-the-shelf options that will match the aesthetics and style of your home.
Our contractors have years’ worth of expertise when it comes to garage door installations and will gladly provide you with any advice that you need to get the perfect garage door. From getting the style right to ensuring the installation goes perfectly, our contractors will make sure the process is easy and painless.
Why doesn't my garage door open?
There are many reasons why a garage door can fail to open. Sometimes, the counterbalance system can fail to work due to a broken spring. Other times, it may be the electric opener that’s malfunctioning. You can investigate the issue yourself or give us a call.
Can I do my own garage door repairs?
While we do recommend that you do regular maintenance on your garage door, we don’t recommend that you try repairs yourself, unless you have experience working on garage doors. The main reason for this is that there are a couple of components that are under very high tension and if these are removed incorrectly they can fly off and injure you.
Should I get torsion or extension springs?
Garage doors use springs to provide enough strength to lift the entire door. Two different types of springs can be used: torsion and extension springs. Extension springs are installed on the side of the door and stretch when the door is closed. Torsion springs are mounted to the header of the door and don’t stretch when the door is closed or opened.
Torsion springs are usually recommended because they are safer than extension springs, and as there is only one at the center of the door, they also provide a smoother door operation.
